Karin Landgren

Karin Landgren is a renowned expert in international peacebuilding with over 30 years of experience in conflict resolution and humanitarian aid. She was most recently the Executive Director of Security Council Report, where she provided independent analysis on the work of the United Nations Security Council. Ms. Landgren has held senior leadership positions in multiple UN peace operations, including as the head of the United Nations Missions in Nepal, Burundi, and Liberia, where she played a critical role in the UN’s response to the Ebola outbreak in 2014. Earlier in her career, she worked with UNHCR and UNICEF, where she developed key frameworks for child protection and humanitarian response. Ms. Landgren is a founding member of the Nordic Women Mediators Network, and is also a Distinguished Fellow at the Center on International Cooperation at New York University. She has lectured at leading academic institutions and published widely on issues of conflict, international law, and human rights. Ms. Landgren holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Master of Laws in international law from the London School of Economics.
